New to the range for 2009 the Spirit model is the smallest pediatric Special Needs Pushchairs made by Advance Mobility a division of the Baby Jogger company. The Spirit is designed for a child with maximum weight limit of 75lbs (34kg). It has a 10" (25cm) deep seat and we intend the Spirit as an intermediary step for a child who would have minimal growth room in a general purpose pushchair but who may not yet be quite big enough for the larger Independence or Liberty models which have a 15" deep seat.
For guidance we would recommend the Spirit for an occupant of size/age 5 or less where it needs:
Whilst there is certainly a need for a pushchair of intermediary size, and the Spirit may be a successful replacement for the discontinued Mountain Buggy Terrain XL for some children, it should be expected that the age range for the pushchair will be limited - it is a 'stepping stone' rather than a long term solution. If in doubt then call us to discuss ! The Key Features of the Spirit are (click on an underlined link word for an image or more information):
If the child has outgrown their current standard pushchair it may be because some standard pushchairs are smaller than others ! You may therefore be able to solve your immediate need with a pushchair which is not intended for a child with special needs but is a standard pushchair with a generous sized seat & headroom and a high payload. Made By Baby Jogger (the parent company of Advance Mobility) the Baby Jogger City Elite could be the answer. We can supply some general purpose Micro-Bean Cushions to help adapt the seat for the occupant. Please note that the Spirit comes 'flat packed' and requires some putting together before first use - but it's not difficult and does not take very long. It is available in Navy Blue only. | Background
Info. It all started with the Baby Jogger in 1984, and although most other manufacturers have tamed the three wheel concept for the city walker Baby Jogger have kept true to their roots and still produce the ideal sport pushchair. Baby Jogger's mainstream products are high quality specialist pushchairs primarily for Joggers. But don't worry...you don't have to jog with them ! the large 16" wheels make it easier to push with a heavy occupant and it can also cope with rough terrain enabling you to go off road. |
