The Independence model is one of two smaller Special Needs Pushchairs made by Advance Mobility a division of the Baby Jogger company.

Designed for the older child from 5 to 10 years, with a maximum weight limit of 100lbs (45kg). The Independence can also be supplied with an Extended Footwell for a child over 10 years who is slim and lightweight, see the Independence MAX model.

  • less manoeuvrable around town and inside shops compared to the swivel wheel Liberty

For guidance we would recommend the Independence for those people who want it:

• to go off road....and do it really well
• to be convertible, to extend the lifespan of the pushchair for a slim lightweight occupant older than 10 years
• to have foot restraint straps

If:

• you want a pushchair primarily urban usage on smooth surfaces
• the occupant is broad across the shoulders
• you are accustomed to a swivel wheel pushchair and do not mind potentially limiting the useful lifespan of the pushchair in order to get this attribute
• if you are not tall, e.g. less that 5ft tall (as the alternative Liberty handle bar is adjustable)

...then the Liberty may be preferable.

the Independence pushchair is not 'Crash Tested' it cannot be used for transporting a child in a vehicle

There are also some extra accessories available, an Extended Footwell which extends the leg length, a Head Rest Extension, a Roll Cushion, Pelvic Strap and Travel Bags, plus some general purpose Micro-Bean Cushions to help adapt the seat for the occupant.

Please note that the product comes 'flat packed' and requires some putting together before first use - but it's not difficult and does not take very long. It is available in either Red or Navy.
